Oh my God, an upload??
How many years has it been? It's about time I got back on here!
So I finally saved up and got a new tablet, though it's not designed for drawing specifically. I downloaded the Autodesk Sketchbook app and decided to give it a shot, and I was satisfied enough that I thought, "Hey, why not become active on dA again?"
Well, here we have "Raining Fire," an OC-turned-PC for a homebrew Pathfinder campaign that my friend is currently hosting. She's a Lawful Neutral Druid of the Elemental Savant archetype and has been absolutely wonderful to play as!
As far as the tablet and the sketch itself, I quickly noticed several limitations, issues, and work-arounds. My stylus isn't exactly compatible with the tablet itself, and is only responsive if I apply a liberal amount of force to the surface. With that, quick and short strokes are a nightmare to do, but half-way through the piece, I found that if I zoom in to ~1200% it is a lot easier to work with, so hey - whatever works right?
The app only gives me three layers to work with and one static colour or transparent background. That works for me, seeing as I'll never be colouring so I should have plenty of working space for skeletal lines, hard-lines, and shading (someday). xD
I left the skeletal lines on 5% opacity for the upload - I feel that they complement the sketchy style.
This will probably be my fallback to balance my pictures since I'll stray away from using colours for the most part or in large, complicated quantities xD Being colour-blind is a pain in the ass.
All things considered, I'm looking forward to uploading more and getting back into sketching! ^^ I am pleased with how this tablet handles drawing, and will use it as a stepping stone until I save up for a more art-specific tailored tablet, like an Intuos.
It's good to be back.
